Not many folks are in tune with The Sensational Alex Harvey Band (or SAHB, eventually), but for those who were, they were rewarded with a trove of theatricality mixed with Blues Rock. This Scottish band issued eight studio sets (one with Alex Harvey on hiatus) from 1972 through 1978. They were adored in the UK primarily, which was where most of their hits and acceptance came from. My brother is who turned me on to them as he was a BIG fan of SAHB. And it was nice to have the band in our orbit during a great time of Rock and Roll in the ’70s.
On November 27, Edsel Records (Demon Music Group UK) will assemble and release a 10CD Boxed set that gathers the band’s entire studio set, and packs in a Live set – Live (1975). and the Four Play set (1977), recorded without Alex Harvey in the lineup. A handful of bonus tracks that include live performance tracks, B-sides, single edits, and a 28-minute interview with Alex Harvey. An insightful booklet is included inside the 7″x7″ boxed set. The set is remastered for the release.
The Boxed set is going to be titled The Album Collection 1970-1978.
