Ian Dury was quite the artist on his trip with the Live Stiffs Tour as New Wave began to ramp up in the Post-Punk era. Previously, his single of “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll” brought fame to his The Blockheads band off his excellent through and through New Boots and Panties!! album issued in late 1977. Soon afterward, he released Do It Yourself (1979), after hitting gold with the singles, “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick”, and “What A Waste”, both of which were non-album singles. (I don’t actually full-on remember BUT I seem to think that “Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick” was included inside the US release of Do It Yourself as a bonus 7″.)
On November 18, BMG will reissue New Boots and Panties!!, and follow with Do It Yourself on November 25, both on Special Edition collector color vinyl. For New Boots and Panties!!, the pressing will be on transparent Amber color vinyl, while Do It Yourself will be reissued pressed on transparent Lime color vinyl.
