Since the early years of Rock n Roll growth, Ten Years After was delivering an important stream of blues/rock and in quite an insistent fashion. Fronted by the fiery guitar of Alvin Lee. Their first album in 1967 opened the professional door and followed with increasingly psychedelic sprinklings in their next few (Stonedhenge – 1969, Shhh – 1969). By 1970, they were a solid band to follow thanks to their potent Woodstock appearance. Their next album, Cricklewood Green, released in 1970, furthered their allure to an appreciative audience. The classic lineup dissolved in 1974 but not before leaving us 4 more excellent studio sets including Rock and Roll Music To The World (1972), and an equally excellent Recorded Live (1973).
On August 28, Chrysalis Records will deliver a Deluxe Edition of Cricklewood Green. The music will be newly remastered. The expansions will include a selection of rare tracks including a newly discovered/previously unreleased “Cricklewood Jam” instrumental demo recorded during the album’s sessions. Additionally, the previously unreleased 2nd set at their February 27, 1970 Fillmore East appearance is provided here. The included booklet delivers a new essay, previously unseen photos, and more.
I’m gonna wait patiently for the upgrades to Rock & Roll Music To The World studio, and the Recorded Live sets. (But Columbia…I’m 70 and ain’t getting any younger. so consider and hurry?)
This 2026 Deluxe Edition of Cricklewood Green will be offered in 2CD, DD, and 2LP Green vinyl. there will be a 2CD/2LP Green vinyl package as well. (The LPs will eliminate the bonus tracks and the “Sweet Little Sixteen” live track.)
