Roberta Flack was a once in a lifetime talent that was discovered in a setting that offered little to no hope. but as luck would have it, an enraptured Les McCann, who happened to be at the benefit concert guided her to an Atlantic Records contract, whereby she delivered twelve LPs (eight of which were best sellers), and five unforgettable best-selling singles. Some of her best known works were also with Donny Hathaway, who, as an R&B singer of the early ’70s, released three studio sets himself, not including the Gold-selling Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway.
On February 6, Atlantic Records will gather eight of her Atlantic Records classics and reissue them into an 8CD Boxed set. The collection will be known as With Her Songs: The Atlantic Albums 1969-1978. A booklet will help to add better clarity to those classic sets.
