Hawkwind, a UK band that helped to pioneer the effect known as Space Rock, released their first album way back in 1970. It didn’t jump right out at first, but it did set the stage for the band’s next effort, In Search Of Space (1971), and THAT album did capture attention, driving traffic backward to the original debut that started it all.
On February 27, Atomhenge Records (Cherry Red UK) will reissue the self-titled debut from Hawkwind in a welcomed 3CD/BD box that will celebrate its being in the universe. This new box will feature a brand new remaster from the original master tapes and will feature new 5.1 Surround Sound and high definition 96kHz/24-bit stereo mixes to be found on the Blu-ray disc. In addition to the original album, there will be a set of six bonus tracks for the album (more for the extras). The other 2CDs will provide the original album in a new remix and give it an extra bonus track as well as provide a collection of early days live recordings.
The set is titled, of course, Hawkwind, and will be offered in the 3CD/BD Box, DD, and a vinyl LP featuring the original album remastered.
