Ian Dury enjoyed a somewhat brief moment in the history of Rock and Roll. Formed in the early ’70s, Ian Dury delivered his first album on Stiff Records back in 1977 as Punk was percolating hot. With the release of his first album (as a solo artist), Ian Dury scored hits with “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll” and “Sweet Gene Vincent”. The album – New Boots and Panties!! – brought together a styled mix of music and left people enjoying the music of Ian Dury and The Blockheads. Several albums afterward didn’t yield the same market impact that the Stiff debut had but was still successful. Ian Dury released 11 studio sets, 9 of them after New Boots and Panties!!. Ian Dury passed away in 2000, a victim of the ravages of cancer. But his legacy is still felt today.
On November 14, Edsel Records (Demon Music Group UK) will release a boxed set that will bring together a string of notable tracks from the catalogue of Ian Dury. The 9CD Box will be titled Too Nutty To Be Naughty: Studio Recordings 1977-2002. It will contain nine studio albums as well as a handful of bonus tracks from some of those sessions.
