Progressive rock advanced in the late ’60s with the formation of the band. Nektar. Nektar assembled in West Germany and released their first album Journey To The Centre Of The Eye in 1971. Over the course of their original career phase, this band issued 7 studio sets before dissolving the group. It reassembled a year later, released a single album, then dissolved again. It later reassembled in 2001 for a another run.
The US began to flirt with the sounds of Nektar on the band’s second album, A Tab In The Ocean. Released in 1972. By 1973, the world had an endearing interest in the band with Remember The Future.
On November 28. Esoteric Recordings will reissue the second effort by Nektar, A Tab In The Ocean with a remastering of the original album from the original master tapes, as well as a newly mixed 5.1 Surround version of the original album. In addition to these new mixes and new remaster will be 2 CDs of their April 22, 1973 show in Erbach, Germany. The set will include a Blu-ray disc that will provide the Surround tracks, Hi-res Stereo mixes, and the original Stereo mix. Provided in the set will be the original 1972 UK mix and a newer1976 US mix.
A Tab In The Ocean (2025) will be reissued as a 4CD/BD set. It will also be made available on Digital Downloads.
The latest incarnation of Nektar also have a brand new live album scheduled for release on December 5 to celebrate the 40th Anniversary if the band. The set will be called Fortyfied and is released by original members, Roye Albrighton, and Ron Howden, along with Peter Pichi, and Klaus Henatsch. It will contain 15 live tracks over 2 CDs.
