You couldn’t turn on AM radio in the mid-’60s without coming across a Rascals tune. There were more than a few excellent Rascals tunes in circulation that included “A Beautiful Morning”, “People Got To Be Free”, “Groovin'”, “Good Lovin'”, “How Can I Be Sure”, and more. From 1965 through 1972, the band that included Felix Cavaliere, Dino Danelli, Gene Cornish, and Eddie Brigati, formed the nucleus of a band that could write a song well. The Rascals lasted for about three years before changing tastes and harder-edged music began to chip away at the style of music they created. Over time, The Rascals released nine albums, three as The Young Rascals, and a handful of singles under both monikers.
On May 31, Now Sounds (Cherry Red UK) will release a 7CD Boxed set that will be called It’s Wonderful, a remastered collection of all the Atlantic studio albums, with 152 tracks on the 7CDs. The first four albums will be offered in both Stereo and Mono forms. There will be bonuses of 14 previously unreleased tracks. The Box will come equipped with a richly designed 60-page booklet with a 10,000 word essay.
