And if things couldn’t get anymore clarifying with the 2023 reissue of Animals (with Guthrie’s 2018 remix delayed), along comes the news that Pink Floyd will reissue Animals with a Guthrie-created Atmos mix on Blu-ray Audio (the previous BD-Audio did not have an Atmos mix included. Bad boys!!) Nevertheless, if you’re an Animals fan, then this might be a jump-in point for you even if you own last year’s offering.
On May 17, Pink Floyd will provide the new Atmos remix, which will also include the previously issued Hi-Resolution Stereo, the 5.1 Surround mix, and the Original Stereo Mix as well to make a more complete Hi-Res package. Although a snooty approach to a desired mix, it is still one I’m going to jump in for. These are varying levels of costs available BUT if you go to the Pink Floyd webstore (here), they offer a 15% discount right off the bat of a $27 offering. (Beware of pricing as high as $36, pre-ship rate.)
The new product will be offered in a digipak with a 16-page booklet, and brand new Aubrey Powell artwork featuring Battersea as it looks today in a night setting. Packed into this package will be a postcard of Battersea Power Station, and a sticker. Sorry, but…I’m in!
