One of Rock’s most venerated duo, Simon & Garfunkel gained an endearing audience since their arrival in 1964 with Wednesday Morning, 3 AM. That brilliant album gave us the acoustic introduction of “The Sounds Of Silence” with 11 other songs that hinted at greatness (as if “The Sounds Of Silence” wasn’t enough an indication). By 1966, the payoff was increased with the release of the Sounds Of Silence album that released a remixed and retitled “The Sound Of Silence” as a single along with “Homeward Bound”, and “I Am A Rock”. Not long afterward, the duo returned with Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme (in the same year – 1966) with four more singles.

Simon & Garfunkel wrapped up an engaging career with 1968’s Bookends album along with five singles, and with one of Rock’s best known and highly revered Bridge Over Troubled Water in 1970. With that last album, the duo left behind an album that should last long after most have been ignored. Bridge Over Troubled Water delivered 4 strong singles and sold well over 25 million copies worldwide. It’s a serious classic offering! And so…

Bridge Over Troubled Water is being offered on pre-order as Limited Edition SACD and 180g-weight SuperVinyl by Mobile Fidelity (MoFi). The Hybrid SACD will be limited to only 3000 copies worldwide, while the SuperVinyl LP is limited to only 4000 copies worldwide. The SuperVinyl set is remastered from original masters to clarifying DSD 256 and then to an analog console to lathe. Both physical media sets should be warmly received and (as I see it) soon to sell out (so don’t wait). You can order the SACD (here) and SuperVinyl (here).
