Nektar, a progressive, conceptual experimental Rock band from Germany captured the ears of fans with their innovative work. They issued the excellent Journey To the Centre Of The Eye in 1971, and began to gain momentum with A Tab In The Ocean in 1972. By 1973, with the release of their fourth album set, Remember The Future, Nektar had the full attention of music fans worldwide in a still young Rock era. That carried on through Recycled (1975), after which, interest began to fade (because Rock was changing due to a strong but younger fan base). By 1978,, Nektar closed the book on their short but grand first runthrough in Rock music.
On March 29, Esoteric Recordings (division of Cherry Red UK) will celebrate an early 50th anniversary of the Recycled album with a 5CD Box. The set will feature a new remastering of the classic set from the original analog tapes, and add in a collection of 32 extra bonus tracks that run the gamut from two previously unreleased live shows from ’75 and ’76, and an original but discarded Geoff Emerick early mix of the full album of Recycled. Two bonus single edits are added to CD1, which contains the original album with the 2024 remaster. The included booklet will contain a new essay detailing the band and Recycled.
The 2024 remaster of Recycled will be issued on CD. A happy day for Nektar fans.
