Since Peter Gabriel‘s years with Genesis and then his subsequent – and VERY successful – solo career, we have heard little of his music (other than previously recorded ones) for quite a few years. 21 of them, in fact (not counting his covers and re-recordings in both 2010 and 2011). And with the plans for his latest, to be called i/o, the announcement had been made but the actual release date languished in unknowable purgatory for more than a few months. But now…

On December 1, Peter Gabriel will release i/o, with twelve new tracks. The album will be released in a few intensities that will include two separate mixes – the Bright-Side Mix, and the Dark-Side Mix. They will be offered separately via LP, and assembled via CD. A track from the Bright-Side Mix called “This Is Home” is available below to listen to.

i/o will be released on 2CD, DD, the two separate mixes on 2LP Black vinyl, and a 2CD/BD issue, with the Blu-ray containing a Dolby Atmos mix (called the In-Side Mix), and both available mixes in 24-bit/96-kHz offerings. An all-inclusive Box set will be released within the first quarter of 2024. Each mix will sport different colored ribbons adorning the left side of the cover and alerting to the particular mix residing within. An immersive and expanded booklet will be included.
