YES helped to made Progressive Rock a strong suit in the world of Rock despite bands before them with classic albums. Beginning with their 1969 debut album – Yes, Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Peter Banks, Tony Kaye, and Bill Bruford started on a path that would lead to a string of lineup changes and highly rated albums. Their breakout song, an edited single of “Roundabout” gave the by then revamped lineup with Rick Wakeman, and Steve Howe highly charged engine changes that helped drive YES to greater heights.

On November 24, The Yes Album will be reissued via Rhino Entertainment as an upgrade package that will take the 1971 50th Anniversary reissue to essential status. The Yes Album did not yet have Rick Wakeman, who would arrive a short time later to be included on Fragile. Nevertheless, The Yes Album is filled with grand tracks that include classic deep tracks like “Yours Is No Disgrace”, “Starship Trooper”, and “I’ve Seen All Good People”. This new edition will pack in a lot that includes a new 2023 remaster of the original album, the 2014 Steven Wilson remix, a generous collection of newly remastered rarities, selected live performance from two shows (one on January 21, 1971 in Sweden, and one on July 24, 1971 in Connecticut), and a Blu-ray with new Steven Wilson collection of 2023 remixes for Dolby Atmos, 5.1 Surround DTS-HD MA, 5.1 Surround LCPM, and High Resolution Stereo.

The Yes Album will be released (as what we currently know) as a 4CD/BD Deluxe Edition set, vinyl LP of the original album with 2023 remaster, and DD. We will update as changes to this occur. I suspect that the 2023 remaster of the album will push the single CD release soon. The early take of “I’ve Seen All Good People” is released and can be heard below.

  1. Several Yes albums, the above included, are also being re-released for Atlantics 75th anniversary. Those formats are SACD and 45 rpm vinyl.
