After Joy Division could not be furthered after the tragic passing of Ian Curtis, The remaining band members transitioned into New Order. New Order released their first album – Movement – in 1981. By 1987, they were able to release a Factory compilation called Substance (sub-titled 1987) highlighting their 12″ single remixes of the club releases.
On November 10, New Order will expand Substance with a greater collection of tracks that include B-sides and alternate versions of the original tracks as well as their full September 12, 1987 concert from the Irvine Meadows amphitheatre stage. There are new versions of “Confusion” (hear below) and “Temptation” included. All the tracks are newly remastered. This set of packages arrive via Rhino Entertainment.
Substance will release on a 4CD set, a truncated 2CD set, DD, 2CS, and two editions of vinyl that are 2LP black vinyl, and a limited edition Retail Only Blue/Red vinyl 2LP sets. The 4CDs are the only media issues that will offer the B-sides and alternate tracks, and the live Irvine Meadows show. Pre-order here.
