Van Halen, a multi-configuration unit that had, at its core, one of the world’s great guitar players in a time when such a commodity might have already been depleted. Eddie Van Halen gave the world an updated blend of virtuoso guitar within a package of perfect Rock and Roll music. After the David Lee Roth era had expended itself, Sammy Hagar stepped in to recreate the magic of the band and provide a new voice to the band’s multi-faceted talent base.
On October 6, Van Halen is, once again, remembered via a Collection update that brings together the Hagar-era of Van Halen with brand new remastering for the set of four albums that include 5150 (1986), OU812 (1988), the cleverly titled For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge (1991), and Balance (1995). In addition, a Rarities CD is packed in with eight extra tracks (B-sides, instrumental, a cover, 2 soundtrack songs, and three from the 2004 short-lived reunion with Sammy) from the Hagar period.
The 5CD is being appropriately named The Collection II (The Collection I was issued previously with the Roth-era albums). It will be released on 5CD, DD, and 10LP (black vinyl) via Rhino Records.
