Lynyrd Skynyrd helped to bring Southern Rock to the masses in 1973 with their “pronounced” double Platinum debut that gave up “Gimme Three Steps”, and their perennial favorite, “Free Bird”. Since that momentous moment in time, the band released four more best-selling albums not including their live set, One More From The Road (1976). After these albums, the band lost much of their momentum with the tragic deaths of band members, Ronnie Van Zant, and Steve Gaines (along with four others).
On October 13, MCA will remember the band with a 4CD, fifty-track Box to be called Fyfty. The music contained will celebrate fifty years of the band with studio tracks, a collection of rarities, the 1987 reunion concert, live performance tracks, unreleased tracks, and recordings up through 2020. A 20-page booklet is packed into the box to round out the musical offerings.
Fyfty will be made available on CD and DD.
