Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars became a motion picture in 1983. The soundtrack was a live set from July 3, 1973 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. It is the final show for the Ziggy Stardust tour. The album was intended to be issued as a live set however the recording was apparently a poor one, and Bowie was ready to move on from his adopted persona in order to explore other music.

On August 11, Rhino and Parlophone will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of actual concert performance recording with an expanded 50th Anniversary Edition of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars: The Motion Picture. The film is playing to audiences with a new digital 4k restoration and a Tony Visconti 5.1 Surround Sound mix. The film will feature expanded uncut performance portions with Jeff Beck as well as present the entire performance of that night.

The Motion Picture Soundtrack sets to be released will be available on 2CD, 2CD/BD Deluxe Edition, DD, BD, and 2LP pressed on Gold vinyl. A commemorative booklet is included.
