Silverhead was a UK glam band headed by the charismatic Michael Des Barres (who went on to Detective, before moving on to acting). They released two albums before disbanding. But those two albums found a small but loyal fanbase. Their final album, 16 and Savaged, featured a bold and daring album cover (released by Purple Records in Europe, and MCA in the US). There are two live sets released in Japan only.
On November 25, Cherry Red UK and Purple Records will revisit Silverhead with a 6CD Box – More Than Your Mouth Could Hold: The Complete Recordings 1972-1974 – that will collect the band’s two original albums (Silverhead – 1972, 16 and Savaged – 1973), and four live shows, including the Japan only releases. All CDs in this box will have bonus tracks including the original albums, which will feature 7″ edits and two tracks from the Michael Des Barres solo works. Some of these reissues found in the box were previously reissued as Expanded Editions in 2016 via Cherry Red UK and Purple Records. (Purple Records was started by Deep Purple to cover DP solo works and side projects, as well as signed bands like Silverhead.) Two of the bonus tracks are from a planned but unreleased third Silverhead album.
The box will add in a booklet to cover some extra ground. The 6CD Box will amply take care of your full Silverhead library (unless you also collect LPs).
