After a stream of high-profile band gigs, Eric Clapton moved to the solo spotlight with his eponymous 1970 debut. While that album performed well on the UK charts, it would not be until his next album, 461 Ocean Boulevard (1974) that he began to see intense interest. Buoyed by his hit single, “I Shot The Sheriff”, Eric Clapton rose to new heights and better acceptance.

On August 20, Polydor will revisit the self-titled debut of Eric Clapton with a 4CD box that will explore the original album’s 3 available mixes – one by Tom Dowd, one by Delaney Bramlett, and one by Eric Clapton himself, which is previously unreleased. The 4th CD will a collection of outtakes, singles, and alternate versions. The Eric Clapton debut released the “After Midnight” single, which charted well. The 4CD Anniversary Box will contain all three mixes of the album over the set’s three CDs. A book rounds out the set.

Eric Clapton will issue on CD, DD, and LP (black vinyl). The 1LP reissue will display the original album cover.
