Lou Reed. One of those legends that rarely enjoyed a Top Ten single (“Walk On The Wild Side” peaked at #15 in the US and #10 in the UK). With an eclectic blend of 22 studio albums and a handful of brilliant live sets, Lou Reed never disappointed his fans too badly. The best in album sales fell to his Sire Records debut, New York providing a Gold record in sales.
On September 4, it’s mentioned that a 2LP/3CD/DVD Box of New York (1989) featuring a new 2020 remaster of the album, and a collection of rough and acoustic mixes, a single, an outtake, and a few live tracks on CD3. A bundled assembly of 1989 live tracks from various shows fill up CD2. The two LPs contain the album and its 2020 remaster. The DVD delivers the August 13, 1989 Montreal, Canada show at the Theatre St. Denis with 14 live performance tracks, an extended conversation with Lou Reed, and all of New York remixed in 96kHz/24-bit high resolution Stereo.
The announcement came by way of a Czech record store named Bontanland, which looks legitimate. a search for the store yields up a TripAdvisor page, which lends credibility. Regardless, this is a momentous release and should become readily apparent soon enough. You can pre-order (or otherwise review the listing) here. I’m ALL in, though!
