Since their eponymous and historic 1976 debut, The Ramones had livened up music with an intended punk flavor indicative of their NYC locale. From that great album and through the rest of the ’70s, they made a solid name for themselves with three more gems (The Ramones Leave Home (1977), Rocket to Russia (1977), and Road To Ruin (1978). (Of course, they continued far beyond these titles.) With four classic studio sets for the ’70s, it only made perfect sense to capture their classic live performances with a live album. They released the 2LP document, It’s Alive in 1979. It’s Alive was from a 1977 New Year’s Eve show in London at the Rainbow Theatre.
On September 20, Rhino Records will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of It’s Alive with a 4CD/2LP Deluxe Edition Box. For the CDs, you will not only have the original classic remastered, but will gain three previously unreleased shows prior to this released December 31, 1977 show. Those include the December 28, 1977 Birmingham show at the Top Rank Ballroom, their December 29, 1977 set at Victoria Hall in Staffordshire, and their December 30, 1977 show at Friars in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. With those CDS, a 180g-weight 2LP set of the classic live set is included. The hard cover book (which houses the discs), contain new liners notes, photos, and credits. The box is 12″ x 12″. The label art is the original Sire label art. This box is limited edition with only 8000 copies to be produced. All sets will be numbered.
