There was no one like Aretha Franklin, nor will there ever be, no matter how many pretenders to the throne appear on the scene. She remains “The Queen of Soul.”
Published reports say she passed away from pancreatic cancer Thursday morning at her home in Detroit. She was 76 years old. Reports from the weekend indicated that she was receiving hospice care and stated her condition was “gravely ill.”
