Recently, Anti- Records reissued four Tom Waits titles (The Heart of Saturday Night, Nighthawks at the Diner, Small Change, Heartattack and Vine) on CD and vinyl LP. It was known then that they planned to reissue Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers, & Bastards. Released in 2006, this collection contained a series of Waits outtakes, rarities, and previously unreleased materials, on huge 3CD and 7LP set of boxes.
On June 15, Anti will reissue these sets of 56 songs, some from as far back as 1984. The difference this time is that each set will be released separately. This means that Brawlers will be reissued as individual CD and 2LP sets, Bawlers will be reissued as individual CD and 2LP sets, and Bastards will be reissued as individual CD and 2LP sets. All LPs will be issued as 180g-weight vinyl. All songs will be newly remastered. All CDs will be housed in digipak packaging.
For those that aren’t aware, Brawlers contained Waits blues tunes, Bawlers was a set filled with Waits ballads and lullabys, and Bastards held the more experimental side of Tom Waits compositions.
