There were many reasons to love Foreigner as a band. They seemed to hit all cylinders during their high-powered run over six best-selling albums (not counting the Lou Gramm-less years) from their 1977 eponymous debut though their Inside Information, released in 1987. Throughout all of that, they released over fourteen solid Top 20 hits (more if you count their lesser performers that cracked the Top40). Many of those songs were effective ballads. Some of those ballads, like “I Want To Know What Love Is”, are timeless. And you didn’t even have to be a big fan to appreciate them.
On April 29, Razor & Tie will release the US issue of a previous UK import title, I Want To Know What Love Is: The Ballads. This collected set of tracks from Foreigner highlight their more softer tunes.
