Metallica has a an interesting place in the world of Rock. They are a band that has devotion in the ranks of their fans, but can also find novel ways to make them angry. Regardless of your stance with Metallica, it is their music that is most memorable.
On April 15, Rhino Records, in conjunction with Blackened Recordings, will reissue their 1984 classic, Ride The Lightning, in a giant offering. The title will be presented in a Deluxe Boxset that will include 4LPs, 6CDs, and a DVD. The music will be newly remastered.
Of the CDs, there will be the original album, a CD with original interviews, a CD filled with demos and rough mixes from the sessions, and a series of live sets from 1985. One CD features Castle Donington (UK), another Kabuki Theatre (San Francisco), and another from Lyceum Theatre (UK). The LPs will include the original album, a 2LP issue featuring the 1985 Hollywood Palladium show in LA, and a three-track picture disc titled Creeping Death. The DVD features their 1985 set at Metal Hammer Festival (Germany), a four performance track set from MTV’s Day On The Green at Oakland Stadium in 1985.
The Boxset will include a hardback book with newly published photos, a mini-book of handwritten lyrics, and three posters. If you just need the 180g-weight LP and/or the single CD, those will be released on the same date. New cover art will be unveiled soon.
