If you watch classic films (films like the Pink Panther), then you have heard Henry Mancini in one form or another. His composition brilliance is world renowned. Mancini’s most revered works are his film scores. (I remember his “Experiment In Terror” being used as the music for the opening montage of monsters clips for Chicago’s WGN Creature Features.) With works created for a wealth of films that include The Pink Panther, Breakfast At Tiffany’s , Hatari!, The Party, and a host of other classics that also include The Return Of The Pink Panther, Henry Mancini is well appreciated for his every note.
On November 18, Legacy Recordings will deliver a 9CD Box collection of all his film projects. This extended box will feature 18 of his soundtracks (see list below), and will include some bonus songs including a never before heard version of “Nothing To Lose” from Blake Edwards’ The Party film.
Each disc is sleeved with a great cover. The set will add in a booklet with plenty of good stuff inside (sometimes, it’s the booklet we go after, with the music playing the second fiddle).
The new set will be called The Classic Soundtrack Collection, and will showcase his RCA Records, Columbia Records, and Epic Records outputs.
