Decades ago, Jethro Tull released their popular prog favorite, Thick As a Brick. In that album, the young child known as Gerald Bostock was brought to our attention as a spectacularly gifted poet who’s suddenly on the bad end of a controversy. Thick As A Brick’s single song over two sides of an LP recounting the sorry Bostock affair endeared fans with its conceptual story and incredible music. Thick As a Brick’s unusual display of a newspaper as the album jacket (the set folded out like a genuine newspaper) made the album even more interesting with its originality. Filled with articles and shorter write-ups, the album proved to be a success with both UK and US fans of Jethro Tull.
Gerald Bostock, the fictional character created by Ian Anderson for the classic Thick As A Brick album, was revisited for 2012 Anderson solo sequel, Thick As a Brick 2. After a time, as will happen with creative stories, Ian Anderson was left wondering what happened to Gerald Bostock. Thick As A Brick 2 (TAAB2). In this album, Ian Anderson explores five different scenarios of Mr Bostock that included a homeless homosexual outcome, a banker, an evangelist, a soldier, and a run-of-the-mill individual. TAAB2 went on to do amazing success worldwide. The fans had not forgotten the quality of Thick As A Brick, and were pleased to find that Ian Anderson had ably continued the story-line with a fresh set of music.
On April 15 (US), April 14 (UK), Ian Anderson will revisit Gerald Bostock yet again with a new album. The new album is called Homo Erraticus. In this album, Gerald Bostock returns as a song-writer, creating lyrics around the unpublished works of Ernest T Parritt, who had written a comparative assigning a series of past and future prophecies with key events of British history. the prophecies are recounted by visions experienced by various lives including a Neolithic settler, a an Iron Age blacksmith, a Christian monk, an innkeeper, and Prince Albert. The expereinced visions were caused by an onset of malaria and revealed past lives.
Homo Erraticus is expected to be as successful as the previous works, and will be re-produced in an upcoming UK tour that will also include past Jethro Tull classics utilizing video and theatrics.
Homo Erraticus is being prepared for release in several ways that include an Amazon exclusive of a 2CD/2DVD hard-bound set with 60 pages. The CDs will contain the actual album, with one CD a collection of demos and commentaries. The 2DVDs will contain interviews and a making of documentary on one DVD, with the other DVD to contain bonus audio such as DTS 5.1 Surround of the album, and a high resolution (24bit/48k) Stereo mix of the album.
