It’s been raining an incredible amount this past week where I live. It’s also pouring more releases for the 4th Quarter.
A DVD for Gordon Lightfoot called Greatest Hits Live from a 1979 London show is coming from IMV Blueline on November 5. (CD Universe)
In one of the biggest bombshell pieces of news for the week, it has been leaking out that there will be a 3-CD box set forthcoming from Universal for The Velvet Underground – White Light/White Heat: 45th Anniversary Edition on December 3. An insider associated with the project over at the Hoffman Forum said the box will include stereo & mono versions of the album and a famous gymnasium show along with other goodies. There will also be a 2-disc version available too. (IMWAN/Hoffman Forum)
This has to be a grey market disc, but Amazon U.K. is showing a new disc for Mick Taylor called Little Red Rooster on a label called Woodstock Tapes which is already out. The disc is made up of a live show from Hungary in 2001 which featured John Coghlan of Status Quo and Noel Redding alongside Taylor. (Amazon U.K.)
The new Bruce Springsteen documentary, Springsteen & I, is being made available in separate DVD and Blu-ray bundles from MyPlay Direct as well as standalone DVD and Blu-ray packages. The bundles will include a t-shirt and a poster. The separate DVD and Blu-ray packages are also available for pre-order at Amazon. This will be coming out on October 29. (MyPlay Direct e-mail/Amazon)
Word is now leaking out via online sources and from their Facebook page that a forthcoming 40th Anniversary Edition for Deep Purple – Made In Japan is getting prepped for a possible 2013 release. Hey guys! There’s only three months left for this year. Included in the package will supposedly be DVD content made up of a documentary of the Mk. II and Made In Japan Era of the band as well as some very rare footage from the run. Matt or I will fill you in on more details when the official announcement is made. (IMWAN/Hoffman Forum)
The SACD hybrid of The Band – The Band from Mobile Fidelity is now available over at Amazon. (IMWAN)
I have not been able to determine if it is a CD and/or LP, but the Delmark label has announced that there is a Magic Sam release called Live At The Avant Garde June 22, 1968 that is either out or is about to come out. I’ll probably check on this and report back on it in the comments section within the next few days. (Hoffman Forum)

I just wanted to let people know that I got an e-mail from Amazon U.K. saying that Gladys Knight amp; The Pips-Imagination will not ship and that my order has been cancelled. BBR must have gotten in touch with Funkytown Grooves over the reissues of the album and came to the conclusion that BBR needed to drop their version.
