The four guys from Athens, GA that formed the successful band known as R.E.M. Their first album on the IRS label generated Gold status in the US and still respectfully well in Europe. Murmur, issued in 1981, produced the hit alternative single, “Radio Free Europe”. It would not be long until they were generating releases well over a million copies sold (with three selling over four million copies!). The band released 15 albums, and retired from recording and touring in 2011. But some years after that decision, somehow, the band’s music remains relevant and listenable.
On November 20, R.E.M. (via Craft Recordings) will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Reveal with a 2CD/BD set that will present the original album paired with the previously unreleased 17 song live performance set known as The Black Sessions Revealed. The Blu-ray inclusion will present Reveal in a high resolution Stereo remix as well as a 5.1 Surround mix. The BD will also include three music videos (“Imitation of Life”, “All The Way To Reno (You’re Gonna Be A Star)”, “I’ll Take the Rain”), and the original Reveal EPK (Press kit). A 32-page booklet will be added in. The 2LP sets that are being offered will only house the music from The Black Sessions Revealed and will be offered in several color presses. The original album will be offered in two color presses that include a Limited press of Neon Orange, and a standard industry Black.
The 25th Anniversary of Reveal will be reissued in a 2CD/BD set, DD, and two color editions of The Black Sessions Revealed (Limited Edition Neon Pink, and Limited Edition Neon Orange). There will be several bundles that allow for tees, for all LPs and CDs/BD combinations, and for the two Neon color presses.
