Kraftwerk, the German-based electronic band that helped Rock begin a different journey to New Wave as early as 1970, achieved fame in 1974 with their worldwide hit, “Autobahn”. Originally clocked at over 20 minutes and taking up an entire LP side, the charting hit was edited to a tidy radio-friendly length. However, it was my favorite radio station, WXRT, that is credited with breaking the band by playing “Autobahn” for music lovers (their brave musical ventures was why I loved WXRT back in the days of my youth). By 1975, on the wave of popularity, Kraftwerk released the cleverly titled Radio Activity to the world.

On May 15, Kraftwerk will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Radio Activity with a vinyl LP picture disc reissue of the title, as well as a Blu-ray Audio Edition also celebrating the album’s 50th. The BD-Audio will provide a 4-page booklet, a sticker, and an insert. The BD-Audio will supply a new Atmos mix, a 5.1 Surround mix, and the 2009 remastered audio.

The picture disc will be offered in a die-cut sleeve.
