It’s difficult to think of prime Uriah Heep without the name of Ken Hensley popping up in the forefront of your mind. With his recognizable organ sound and his feverish songwriting skills, Uriah Heep developed into an internationally known band. By the time Uriah Heep reached Demons & Wizards (1972), they were on top. After a time, Ken Hensley left to pursue his solo dreams but not before Uriah Heep left a string of classic peak album sets. Ken Hensley passed in 2020.
On February 24, HNE (Cherry Red UK) will release a 6CD Box set featuring shared tracks from Hensley solo sets, Uriah Heep, collaborations, and other music from his pen. The set is being called Past & Present (Songs In Time): A Ken Hensley Anthology 1972-2021. It will pretty much complete the Ken Hensley library. 4CDs feature solo sets, while the last CD includes a collection of studio and live works.
There is a box celebrating The Bronze Years: 1973-1981 for Hensley that would slot beautifully next to this upcoming box.
