The B-52s provided the late ’70s with a sod that boasted musical originality and, with every album recorded, another avenue to the center of the emerging styles of the ’80s. Originally signed to Warner Brothers Records, this band gave the world refreshing songs like “Rock Lobster”, “Dance This Mess Around”. and “Planet Claire” that helped turn their 1979 debut album into a multi-million-seller experience worldwide. In 1982, The B-52s released a quite interesting EP of six songs named Mesopotamia. This departure of sound performed well for the band.
On August 21, Rhino Entertainment will release a 3CD/1LP set that will present Mesopotamia as it was originally intended, as a full album of songs. The first CD will deliver the album with original tracks plus the other songs left off but were intended for the set. CD2 will add in a collection of dance mixes, while CD3 will present a 15 performance track live set from their April 19, 1982 show at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC, Manhattan. The included Limited Edition Splatter LP will deliver the intended album to us. a booklet will be included.
This 3CD/LP set will celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Mesopotamia.
