Much of Prog Rock has been defined by bands like YES, Marillion, Can, Rush, King Crimson, Caravan, Camel, ELP, Pink Floyd, and many more. As the decades passed and the initial flood of original Prog bands left the stage, more have risen to take their place. Those are bands like King’s X, Opeth, and Spock’s Beard. But these days, the count is long and the quality widespread.
On December 9, one of the later bands – Spock’s Beard – will release their next album – The Archaeoptimist. This new album will contain six brand new tracks on the standard CD issue. But that’s not the only way you will be able to acquire the new album. There will be a Deluxe 2CD, DD, and LP pressed on black vinyl. For collectors, a 2LP Red vinyl LP press will be available. A special CD/DVD will be made available that will contain not only the new album on CD but also the new album as 5.1 Surround and High Resolution Stereo mixes. The special edition will pack in an 8-page lyric booklet, while the CD will offer a 12-page booklet.

The title track will top out at over 20 minutes in length. You can hear “Invisible” below. This new Spcok’s Beard album is being issued on Madfish Records.
