There are many fans of The Flaming Lips…but not enough of them. The band began their run in 1983 in a different way than you currently see them. Back then, Wayne Coyne (the only original member and now the frontman) was the guitarist and his brother, Mark Coyne was the lead singer. However, his tenure was brief as he departed after the band’s first release. The band’s best known album is Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, which was released in 2002. It went Gold and delivered the band’s best known song, “Do You Realize?”, which features in movies and other places. Rolling Stone Magazine recently gave “Do You Realize?” the distinction of being one of the new century’s greatest songs produced. (It is listed as 164 out of 250. In 2002, Rolling Stone pronounced it the Song of the Year.) Overall, The Flaming Lips have 22 studio sets, the last being American Head issued in 2020. The Flaming Lips have enjoyed successful tour dates and is in the midst of one.
On November 28, Warner Bros Records will release a new live set from The Flaming Lips that celebrates 40 years of the band’s existence. The live set will feature 11 live tracks playing the entire album. The album set will be released for Record Store Day as a 2LP 45RPM Yellow vinyl set. However, there is CD as indicated by the label. The entire title will be: Live At The OKC Zoo Amphitheater – Aug. 30, 2024.

Live At The OKC Zoo Amphitheater – Aug. 30, 2024 will be released on CD, DD, and 2LP vinyl.
