Ultravox ruled the airwaves through much of the beginning ’80s on through the middle with five peak albums that consistently soared in the charts. With that, those albums produced a long string of charting singles. Of course, there were the three Island studio sets begun in the late ’70s, but they pale in sales compared to the Midge Ure era. In addition to the high sales impact of their albums and singles, a best-selling Chrysalis compilation titled The Collection sold well over three million copies, most in their native UK.
On December 5, The Collection will be reissued with brand new 2025 remastering as well as a second volume of singles from 1986 though 2024. But if that weren’t enough for the rabid Ultravox fan, then a handful of Steven Wilson remixes should sweeten the pot. Another CD filled with B-sides is added and an inclusion of two Blu-ray discs with over four hours of promo videos, alternative tracks, and a host of TV appearance clips. This 4CD/2BD Box is limited to only 5000 box copies worldwide. the entire set along with two 20-page booklets will be housed in a 12″ sturdy cardboard box slipcase.
The Collection reissued can be acquired as this 4CD/2BD Box, a single CD (with five extra tracks), DD, 2LP vinyl set and a 4LP vinyl set. The 2LP sets include 2LP Black vinyl, and a Limited Edition 300 copy Hand-pressed Splatter 2LP vinyl. A Limited Edition (2500 copies) set of 4LP clear Vinyl is offered.
