Uriah Heep, a UK band that has gained the favor of many a hard rock fan. They certainly captured my attention back in the day. their debut generated interest from the get-go, leading to their first Gold album (Look At Yourself [1971] in Japan, and Demons And Wizards [1972] in the US). From there, it was a series of Gold sets through to their 1975 issue, Return To Fantasy (1975). Return To Fantasy employed John Wetton as the replacement for the fired Gary Thain, a strong part of the classic version of the band.
On November 28, HNE Recordings (Cherry Red UK) will release a 5CD Box to be called The Shadow And The Wind: 1973-1974. Within this box will feature three of the band’s classic era releases with Sweet Freedom (1973), Wonderworld (1974), and their first Gold album Live set, Uriah Heep Live. In addition, a collection of bonus tracks include 4 tracks from a US radio show, 7 tracks from film mixes for radio, 7 Rock and Roll medley tracks from 1974, as well as the 17 live performance tracks from their 1986 issue known as Live At Shepperton ’74, which features three bonus tracks. Eleven bonus tracks accompany the two studio albums.
The Shadow And The Wind: 1973-1974 will be issued on 5CDs and for DD. Personally, I think a full retrospective is in order for the devoted fans of the band.
