Tangerine Dream has an unusually secure spot in the Ambient/Rock realm as they enjoyed a top round with the fans and charts during what is known as The Virgin Years. During this period, the principles were mostly Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, and Peter Baumann. (After Stratofear [1976], Baumann exited and Tangerine Dream recruited Steve Joliffe, and Klaus Krüger to fill the roster for Cyclone [1978], with only Krüger remaining for the next set, Force Majeure [1979]. TD released three more studio sets for Virgin Records before moving onto Jive Records and then Private Music (headed by Baumann) for what would be known as The Blue Years, and the Melrose Years consecutively). The tale of Tangerine Dream is a long, rich, and storied one. But one thing is certain, they were (and still are) excellent producers of music.

On November 28, Reactive Records (Cherry Red UK/Esoteric Recordings) will unleash the 50th Anniversary set Box of Rubycon, the 1975 classic set from the Froese/Franke/Baumann era. The Box will feature 5CDs. The primary CD will offer Rubycon as a new remastering of the album, and with a bonus Steven Wilson-mixed addition of an extended introduction of “Rubycon”. The four additional CDs will feature live performances that include the full concert of Live At The Rainbow (October 27, 1974), and the full April 2, 1975 set at The Royal Albert Hall. The box will pack in a booklet that will feature an essay by renowned TD expert, Wouter Bessels.

The set will be issued on CD and DD.
