Thorsten Quaeschning is a long-time member of Tangerine Dream, and the last member of TD to be in the group while Edgar Froese was still alive. Steve Rothery is a long time member of the band, Marillion (since 1979). Both have enjoyed successes that define their talents. It is an interesting thing to see what happens when strong talents combine in a collaborative effort. That’s what the two musicians have undertaken producing a new album from it.
On August 22, the paring of Thorsten Quaeschning and Steve Rothery as Bioscope will release their new album to be called Gentō. Issued via the earMUSIC label, this set will offer ten songs, some of them different parts of the same title., all completely instrumental. The press release say that the offerings are five songs however there are ten parts. A separately available BD-Audio disc will bring the tracks together with Dolby Atmos, High Resolution Stereo, and an immersive Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound Mix. One of the tracks is currently available (“Kaleidoscope”) as the album’s single. You can hear it below.
Gentō will be offered on CD, DD, Blu-ray Audio, and a 2LP gatefold package pressed on 180g-weight black vinyl.
