Alphaville, a German band influenced by synth bands of the time, emerged in the early ’80s as New Wave was gaining its footing. By 1984, the band had their first album out that was home to their biggest hit, “Forever Young”. The album soared on German charts and in other European marketplaces. In the US, the band captured less attention as the US crawled toward the new style of music at a more glacial pace. Alphaville went on to produce two more albums in the ’80s continuing to delight German audiences with singles. Through to the present time, Alphaville has 8 studio albums, the last released in 2022. They also have a live set, which was released in 2000. Germany has released a 3CD compilation called Forever! Best Of 40 Years (released on September 27 of 2024).
On November 11, the US marketplace took their turn and issued Forever! Best of 40 Years. It was released by Atlantic Records. Forever! Best Of 40 Years was issued on CD, DD, and LP sets pressed on black vinyl, which will present with 13 tracks as opposed to the 2CD collection of 40 tracks that span the band’s career.
