Let’s face it! sometimes an important release happens but ‘i’m completely ignorant of the reality of it. Then, we must – WE MUST – backtrack to its release and properly announce it to those who read these pages. This is especially true for an artist from the late ’80s that I had great respect for. That’s Toni Childs.
In possession of a magnificent and unique voice, musically carried by Jazz, Blues, Folk, World and African rhythmic influences, Toni Childs released two for A&M Records. The debut was the incredible Union album released in 1988, and collaborated with David Ricketts and David Baerwald of David + David fame. the album generated four singles and sold millions of copies worldwide (over 500,000 in US for Gold status). Toni Childs was nominated for two Grammy Awards (Best New Artist, Best Female Rock Vocal Performance – “Don’t Walk Away”.
She released more albums including the purpose of this post today. At some point in 2018 she released a collection named The Vault. Inside were 13 songs recorded over the span of her career but were never released. If you were a fan of Toni Childs then this collection needs to be in your personal collection of Toni Childs music.
