It’s 1973. The world of Rock had already begun a transformation that would soon lead to Punk and to a Post-Punk era. But there were bands that started that feel long before the Pop side of Rock deflated enough to allow for such diversity of music. The Stooges were such a band. Another were The Dictators. Formed in 1973, The Dictators delivered a healthy NYC-sized dose of Punk-orientation just prior to the all-out rebellion that bled over into style and dress. The band released an album on Epic Records that underperformed (they were early). The album was Go Girl Crazy!, the only one released on Epic. Their subsequent albums went to Asylum Records after which the band called it a day for a long while.
On October 25, The Dictators, featuring original members in Andy Shernoff, and Ross “The Boss” Friedman, and incorporating Albert Bouchard (BÖC), and Keith Roth, will release a new album. The set, to be called simply, The Dictators, will feature ten new songs. One of those songs, “Let’s Get The Band Back Together” is currently out as a forerunner for the new album. You can hear it below. “Thank You And Have A Nice Day” is also a single that has been out.
The Dictators will be released via Deko Entertainment and will be issued on CD, DD, and several colors of vinyl that include a Limited Edition Milky Clear vinyl LP press, and industry standard Black. Both sets will be offered as extras-laden bundles. You can pre-order all of them here.
