With the signing to 4AD, Pixies burst out with a best-selling album that generated more than 700,000 copies in sales netting it the coveted Gold album designation. The album – Surfer Rosa – issued in 1988 and included “Gigantic”, a Francis/Deal track, and two deep cuts with “Where Is My Mind?”, and “Cactus”. By 1989 with their second album, Pixies were Platinum-selling artists. With three singles, Pixies were in full control, releasing four full length albums and a mini album for 4AD. The band broke up in 1993 ending their peak era, reforming again in 2003.
On October 25, the Kim Deal-less Pixies (replaced by Emma Richardson), will release a new album with 13 new songs. The new album is being called The Night The Zombies Came. The new album has three songs out ahead of the new album. The current track is “Oyster Beds”, which can be heard below.
