King Crimson, a progressive band that needs no introduction (and so, we’ll dispense with that part of this alert), is on the headlines again with a planned and updated edition of one of their classic sets – Red. Issued in 1974 and is their 7th release. The album featured Robert Fripp, John Wetton, and Bill Bruford along with a fine, fine cast of added musicians that included Mel Collins (Camel) on saxophone, and David Cross on violin.

On October 11, DGM and Panegyric will revisit Red in a lavish 2CD/2BD Box that will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the classic King Crimson album. Inside the box, the music will be give as new 2024 mixes that will include Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD MA Surround 5.1, and two high resolution Stereo versions at 96kHz/24-bit, and 192kHz/24-bit. Extras add in bonus live bootleg recordings that have been restored to sound quality. The 2CDs will present a new Steven Wilson remix of Red along with instrumental versions, “making of” tracks, and Elemental mixes. Of course, an informative and detailed booklet will be inside.

The new 2024 mix of Red will be released in a 2CD/2BD box, 2LP on black vinyl, and DD versions for the digital realm.
