Bill Bruford made a name for himself as drummer for YES before moving on to a longer stint with King Crimson, whereby he extended and elevated his credentials as a percussionist for the mighty. With a style that spoke of high training, he would move about, playing in bands like UK, and Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe, He would move back in and then back out of YES and King Crimson. He would work with many musicians on their own albums. His solo career consisted of a number of albums with Earthworks, Upper Extremities, and more. In short, Bill Bruford emphatically put the exclamation mark on all of his involvements.
On October 18, a 3CD set will be released via Summerfold (issued by Cherry Red UK) that will include early solo works. Summerfold and Winterfold Records were established by Bruford to present remastered and expanded editions of his works; Winterfold would work for his music that includes his music up to 1987, while Summerfold dealt with everything after 1987 and new works as well. This 3CD box set encompasses those label efforts.
In the box are three discs that blend the best all together into one package. The box contains 35 tracks that join two long out of print titles. This compilation was watched closely by Bill Bruford and is a representation of his early ideas and expression. The set will be known as The Best Of Bill Bruford: The Winterfold & Summerfold Years. It will be issued on 3CD and DD.
