Greenslade were a progressive band that, for the most part, was under the radar of most music fans. Greenslade were the namesake of founder, David Greenslade, who opted to forego the use of six-string guitars for the first two albums. Instead, Greenslade used two keyboards players, drums, and bass. The band was short-lived only releasing four Warner Bros albums from 1973 to 1975. (A fifth was released in 2000.) The band dissolved in 1976.
On September 27, Esoteric Recordings (via Cherry Red UK) will release a newly remastered vinyl LP edition of Bedside Manners Are Extra. The second album from Greenslade, issued in 1973 just ten months later after their eponymous debut. Their covers for the first two albums were beautifully and distinctively drawn by Roger Dean. For this set, the remaster was created from the original master tapes and cut at Abbey Road Studios.
The LP will be pressed on black vinyl for this occasion. Personally, I’m looking forward to adding this to my collection.
