Bronski Beat formed in 1983 and jumped out of the gate with a single and a best-selling album worldwide (just not in finicky US). The single “Smalltown Boy” was followed by three more singles from The Age Of Consent album. Unfortunately, the band was short-lived releasing only two peak albums before dissolving. They did rejoin a few years later but the momentum was lost by then and public musical tastes having changed.
On October 18, London Records will reissue The Age Of Consent in a 4CD/DVD 40th Anniversary Edition that will feature previously unreleased tracks, and some new remixes. The box will feature a hardbound book with 24-pages filled with photos and other stuff. Rarities will include radio and studio sessions, 12″ mixes, while the DVD adds in restored videos, Tops Of The Pops clips, and television ads.
The 40th Anniversary of The Age Of Consent will be released in the previously mentioned 4CD/DVD box, and will also issue on DD, 2LP, and 2CD editions. A Smalltown Boy poster will be included.
