Zappa fans have been treated to stellar reissues of many of the Franz Zappa classics. His brand of music was always wonderful and unapologetic in the face of the standard styles. One of those is Apostrophe (‘). Unbelievably, this classic, which produced the hit, “Don’t Eat The Yellow Snow”, has turned 50 this year in March. The album was Zappa’s sixth solo effort, released on DiscReet (via Warner Music). So ramp up the celebration machine. An Anniversary box is coming.
On September 13, The Zappa foundation will revisit Apostrophe (‘) with a magnificent update that will encompass 5CD and a BD wrapped into a box to make it a set of note. The album is newly remastered for the set. The included Blu-ray Audio disc will present the original album remixed for Dolby Atmos, 5.1 Surround (Dolby TrueHD), a remix of the original 4-track Quadrophonic album in Dolby TrueHD, and two hi-res Stereo mixes. The box will ship with a booklet that will have period photographs and new essays.
Apostrophe (‘) will be reissued on 5CD/BD box, a 2LP set cleverly pressed on Yellow Snow-colored vinyl and that will include a glow in the dark 7″ single of “Don’t Eat The Yellow Snow” b/w “Cosmik Debris”, DD, and a Special Gold Nugget color vinyl press of the Apostrophe (‘) album with the 2024 remaster.
