While Ten Years After had been gaining notoriety on the stage since 1962, it wasn’t until their lightning-struck Woodstock performance in 1969 that elevated them to chartbusters. Their original songs were top-notch, to say the least about the great band that featured the inspired and incendiary guitar-work of Alvin Lee. But that Woodstock performance created a new mystique that lasted far past their existence as a peaking band.
On August 16, Chrysalis Records will revisit that set of magic with a new release of their performance as a standalone issue. The set is being called Woodstock 1969, and will feature the full blistering set from their legendary show at the famed Festival. The album and its 6 performance tracks (7 if you count the included false start for “Good Morning Little Schoolgirl”) are presented in a new mix of the original 2″ multi-track tapes. The package will offer an 8-page booklet in the historical digipak set, which will contain insightful liner notes to go along with the music.
Woodstock 1969 will be released on CD and DD.
