One of Frank Zappa‘s most enduring and highly celebrated albums is Over-Nite Sensation (1973), recorded with The Mothers of Invention. It was followed by other innovative and classic works that include Apostrophe (*) [1974], and later in 1976, Zoot Allures, a solo effort. Over-Nite Sensation contained seven tracks that offended the critic world with its vast array of sexual topics. Nevertheless, it would go on to achieve a milestone event in Zappa‘s career by garnering Gold status. Zappa had gained a wealth of fans.
On November 3, the Zappa estate will unleash a 4CD/BD Deluxe Edition of Over-Nite Sensation to celebrate its 50th Anniversary. It will be filled with 88 tracks of remembrance. The original album is remastered, and the other discs promise gems with outtakes, alternate track versions, unedited vault surprises, and two full shows (The Palladium, and Cobo Hall). The Blu-ray will provide the original high resolution Quad mix, along with new 5.1 Surround mixes, a hi-res Stereo mix of the 2012 remaster, and Dolby Atmos mixes of the original album.
The 50th Anniversary of Over-Nite Sensation will be released in the above referenced 4CD/BD Box, DD, a 3LP Limited Edition Clear vinyl with 4-color splatter, adding in a large poster of the album art. There will also be a 180g-weight black vinyl 2LP set cut at 45RPM, also with a large poster included.
