Steely Dan has enjoyed a massive fanbase pretty much from the get-go with their Platinum-selling Can’t Buy A Thrill, released at the end of 1972. Within, that album produced two fine single classics in “Do It Again”, and “Reeling In The Years”. Led by Walter Becker, and Donald Fagen, Steely Dan released 7 more much-loved albums that include Aja (1977), Katy Lied (1975), Gaucho (1980), and others. Sadly, Walter Becker passed in 2017 at the age of 67. In November of 2022, Steely Dan released a remastered LP edition of Can’t Buy A Thrill.
On May 26, Steely Dan continues the reissue campaign with a new LP release of Countdown To Ecstasy. Originally released in 1973, this album represents the band’s second album, and contains the hit singles, “Show Biz Kids”, and “My Old School”. For this reissue, Donald Fagen watched over the new remaster from original audio tapes from Bernie Grundman. Grundman will be remastering the rest of the catalog over time for LP reissues.
A Limited Edition of 20,000 copies will also be reissued at the same time from Analogue Productions. It will be released on their UHQR series vinyl pressed on 200g-weight vinyl and mastered at 45RPM. This is in ADDITION to the previously mentioned vinyl package coming from Geffen Records. The Analogue Productions reissue will definitely be pricey!
